Mindanao’s longest bridge to open Sept. 27 – DPWH

MANILA, Philippines — Panguil Bay Bridge, Mindanao’s longest bridge connecting the provinces of Misamis Occidental and Lanao del Norte, will be open for traffic on September 27.

Department of Public Works and Highways chief Manuel Bonoan made the update when asked by predecessor and now senator Mark Villar in a hearing tackling the agency’s budget on Monday.

“The Panguil Bay bridge is scheduled for inauguration on September 27,” said Bonoan.

The 3.17-kilometer sea-crossing bridge project will connect Tangub City in Misamis Occidental to Tubod in Lanao del Norte.

Villar noted that the bridge will cut the travel time between two areas from more than two hours to 10 minutes.

“I commend the secretary for swift implementation of that project,” he said.

The P7.37 billion project is funded by a loan agreement between the Philippines and South Korea through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund.
