A magnitude 3.8 earthquake hit Tarlac City on Friday night, the intensity of which reached Bamban town, according to state meteorologists.

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 3.8 earthquake hit Tarlac City on Friday night, the intensity of which reached Bamban town, according to state meteorologists.

The tectonic earthquake with a shallow depth of 13 kilometers occurred at 8:48 p.m. two kilometers northeast of Tarlac City, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Instrumental intensity III (weak) was recorded in Bamban town, while no felt intensities were reported.

Felt intensity is the ground shaking actually felt and reported by the people through the Phivolcs Earthquake Intensity Scale while instrumental intensity was indicated by the ground shaking intensity measured by the intensity meters in and around the epicentral area.

However, aftershocks and damage due to the two earthquakes are both unlikely.
