16 hurt after van hits light post in Lucena City

LUCENA CITY — At least 16 people, including two children, were injured Thursday after the vehicle they were travelling in hit a light post along the Maharlika Highway in this city.

The Lucena police said in a spot report that a Nissan Urvan van driven by Benjamin Balicot Jr., 40, hit the street light pole at the center island in Barangay Domoit around 2:45 a.m.

The driver and his 15 passengers, which included two girls aged 8 and 9, suffered injuries and were taken to the Quezon Medical Center here.

The police are conducting further investigation to find out what caused the vehicle to hit the street light.
