Marcos inspects P533 M new guns, vehicles of PNP

 

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. led the inspection of P553.3 million worth of new assets procured by the Philippine National Police (PNP) which marked its anniversary on Thursday.

Part of the procured machine guns, patrol vehicles, and motorcycles were presented before Marcos during the anniversary celebration at the PNP headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

PNP chief General Rommel Marbil said the procured assets are worth P553,342,820.

“These upgrades have significantly enhanced our operational capacity, ensuring more effective and efficient responses in bolstering community safety,” Marbil said in his speech.

Among the procured equipment are the 155 units of 5.56 mm light machine guns, costing P674,424 each, for a total of P104,535,720, according to the PNP data.

The PNP likewise purchased 299 units of light motorcycles (150 cc) worth P142,900 each, 193 units of light transport vehicles (P1.4 million each, P271 million in total), 75 units of patrol single jeep cabs (P1.2 million each, P92.4 million in total), and 20 units of 4×4 personnel carriers (P2.1 million each, P42.4 million in total).

The new assets were procured using the Capability Enhancement Program funds, according to the PNP.
