Patnanungan, another island municipality, experienced a magnitude 2.1 tremor at 2:21 p.m. with a 17 km depth.

The quakes were of tectonic origin caused by sudden movement along faults and plate boundaries.

Phivolcs said they did not expect the quakes to cause damage or aftershocks.

Burdeos, Polillo, and Panukulan are part of Polillo Island off Lamon Bay that faces the Pacific Ocean in northern Quezon.

Patnanungan is another island municipality in the Polillo group of islands.

The Philippines sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire,” where continental plates collide, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity. INQ
