President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said proposals to redeclare the Cordillera Administrative Region an autonomous region faces constitutional and legal questions that should be answered first.

The President gave the commitment in an interview with reporters in Apayao province. “We will look at that proposal, we will study it carefully,” he said on Friday.

There was a bill filed in the House of Representatives in 2022, but questions were raised because of the failure of plebiscites in 1990 and 1998.
