Edsa-Kamuning service road off limits to motorcycles starting May 3
MANILA, Philippines — Motorcycles will no longer be allowed at Edsa-Kamuning service road in Quezon City starting Friday, said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
MMDA chair Don Artes made the pronouncement after an inspection and traffic assessment at the service road was conducted on Thursday, a day after the southbound lanes of Edsa-Kamuning were partially closed for maintenance repairs.

During the inspection, slow-moving traffic was observed along the service road.
“This move is to lessen the traffic on Kamuning service road. All vehicles, including motorcycles, are urged to use the alternate routes,” said Artes in a statement.

Meanwhile, additional traffic enforcers will be deployed to guide passing motorists and other road users.
More signages informing motorists about traffic and directions identifying other routes will also be installed.
MMDA also intends to continue the clearing operations in Mabuhay Lane and other identified alternate routes in collaboration with the Quezon City government.
“Barangay officials will help in clearing alternate routes and ensuring smooth traffic flow in the area,” said Artes.
Moreover, the agency will request the Department of Transportation to have Edsa carousel buses use the service road daily from 11 p.m. to make way for uninterrupted retrofitting works at the flyover.
Amid repairs, only one southbound lane is passable at the Edsa-Kamuning flyover and is exclusive to Edsa carousel buses.
