Chief Justice joins SC employees in prayer

/ 02:18 AM May 15, 2012

Just hours before Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales testified in his impeachment trial, Chief Justice Renato Corona on Monday joined Supreme Court employees in praying for his acquittal, reading verses from the Book of Revelation.

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more,” Corona said, reading from a prayer book.

More than 50 supporters, clad in red, joined him and his wife as they attended a lunchtime novena Mass at the court lobby. After the Mass, Corona led his supporters in prayer, consecrating himself and his family to God.

“I ask for the grace of steadfastness and perseverance,” Corona said in a prayer.
