OLONGAPO CITY — Following the rising demand for electricity during the dry season, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will reroute the power supply in this city to a larger power transformer in one of its substations.

The power transfer will cause a 1-hour service interruption in the entire city (from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.) on May 5, the NGCP said in an advisory on Friday, April 26.

“This proactive measure ensures the stability of our power infrastructure,” NGCP said.

The NGCP has been issuing a yellow alert in Luzon due to a thin supply.

A yellow alert means the operating margin can no longer meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirements.
