Kasambahays’ minimum monthly wage in Central Luzon set at P6,000
SAN ANTONIO, Zambales – Starting Monday (April 1), the ‘kasambahay’ or domestic helpers in Central Luzon will receive an increase in their monthly wages, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
More than 126,000 domestic helpers in the region will now enjoy a P6,000 minimum wage hike based on Wage Order No. RBIII-DW-04 that was issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in March.
The order takes effect on Monday.
The new wage rate is P1,000 or 1,500 higher than the previous rate of P4,500 to P5,000 rate in chartered cities, first class municipalities and other municipalities, DOLE said.
According to the board, it was necessary to increase the prevailing monthly minimum wage rates for domestic helpers after considering the socio-economic conditions in the region.
