Zubiri on vice presidency: ‘I will not be running for any public office in 2028’
MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri announced on Monday that he would not seek any public office in 2028.
In fact, the Senate leader is even considering his retirement after almost three decades in politics.
Zubiri issued the statement in response to the reported survey conducted by Pulse Asia supposedly showing the top Vice Presidential candidates for the 2028 elections.
INQUIRER.net is still verifying from Pulse Asia whether or not it released such a poll.

“However, to dispel any rumors that may arise, I would like to make it clear that I will not be running for any public office [in] 2028, and I am, in fact, contemplating on my retirement from almost 30 years of politics,” he emphasized.
He proceeded to thank his “kababayans” from Mindanao and Visayas, who made up at least 14 percent and 8 percent of his Pulse Asia numbers.
While contemplating on his retirement, Zubiri also vowed to dedicate the last four years of his service to “uplifting the lives of every Filipino through meaningful legislations.”
