MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather with chances of slightly cloudy skies with isolated rains will prevail over the country on Black Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

“Patuloy pa ring ang epekto ng easterlies o ‘yung mainit na hanging galing sa Karagatang Pasipiko dito sa silangang bahagi ng ating bansa, kaya for the next 24 hours, magpapatuloy po itong mainit at maalinsangang panahon,” said state weather specialist Daniel James Villamil in an early morning advisory.

(The continued effect of easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, persists here in the eastern part of our country. So, for the next 24 hours, the hot and humid weather will continue.)

“Asahan pa rin natin ‘yung mga tyansa ng thunderstorms pagsapit ng hapon hanggang gabi,” he added.

(We can still expect chances of thunderstorms in the afternoon until the evening.)

Pagasa warned those living in low-lying areas against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, no gale warning alert is raised in any part of the country’s seaboards.

“Dahil wala pa naman tayong binabantayang low pressure area o sama ng panahon sa mga susunod na araw na maaaring maging isang bagyo na posibleng makaapekto sa ating bansa, asahan na rin natin na magpapatuloy itong maaliwalas na panahon,” Villamil added.

(Since we don’t have any low pressure area or weather disturbances in the next few days that could potentially develop into a typhoon affecting our country, we can also expect the fair weather to continue.)
