PCG monitors over 67,000 travelers in seaports nationwide
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) monitored more than 67,000 inbound and outbound passengers in seaports nationwide on Maundy Thursday.
According to PCG’s morning advisory, more than 38,000 passengers traveled outbound from midnight to 6 a.m., while over 29,000 were inbound.
To ensure public safety in all ports, the agency has deployed over 3,000 frontline personnel currently assigned to 15 PCG districts.
It added that these personnel have inspected 309 vessels and 219 motor bancas.

Article continues after this advertisementEarlier, PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan announced their operating units will be on heightened alert until April 3, even though Holy Week will end by March 31.
“This is to ensure the smooth operations of sea transport facilities, convenient sea travel, and safety of local and foreign tourists in major beaches and private resorts amid the anticipated increased volume of maritime traffic,” Gavan said in a statement.
