Pagasa: Three weather systems to bring rain to Luzon and Visayas

MANILA, Philippines — Three weather systems will bring rain to Luzon and Visayas on Wednesday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina, the shear line is currently affecting parts of Northern and Eastern Luzon.

“Dulot ng shearline, malaki ang tiyansa ng pag-ulan partikular na sa bahagi ng Isabela, Aurora at lalawigan ng Quirino, at Northern Part ng Quezon,” said Badrina in Pagasa’s latest forecast.

(Due to the shear line, there is a high chance of rainfall, especially in the areas of Isabela, Aurora, the province of Quirino, and the Northern Part of Quezon.)

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” is expected to bring light rain over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Isolated rain showers will also likewise occur over the rest of Luzon due to the effects of amihan.

On the other hand, the easterlies is expected to bring isolated rain showers in Visayas, while generally fair weather is expected over Mindanao with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms.

Badrina said Pagasa is currently not monitoring any storms or low-pressure areas, with no weather disturbances expected to enter or form within the Philippine area of responsibility for the rest of the week.

Below is Pagasa’s forecast temperature range in key cities or areas across the country:

  • Metro Manila: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 15 to 24 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City: 22 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 21 to 28 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 22 to 30 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius

No gale warning is currently raised over the country’s seaboards, but moderate to rough wave conditions should be expected in Luzon’s surrounding coasts.
