BI arrests Taiwanese fugitive

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday that it arrested a Taiwanese fugitive in Manila. According to the BI, 52-year-old Wu Jao, also known as Wu Chun Hsien, was involved in a shooting incident in 2022.

Wu was arrested by authorities in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Tuesday, after a mission order was issued by BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

The BI added that Wu also has an alleged oral defamation and a trespassing case in Cagayan.

It added that he was an undocumented alien as his passport was revoked by Taiwanese authorities, who likewise issued an arrest warrant against him.

Wu is currently at the BI facility in Taguig, pending deportation.

“We encourage concerned citizens to report illegal aliens in your area, so we may immediately investigate them and if found to be violating immigration laws, arrest and deport them,” Tansingco said.
