Malabon LGU warns public of fake accounts impersonating officials

The local government of Malabon cautioned on Saturday against illegal pages that impersonate its official social media platforms.

MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Malabon on Saturday cautioned the public against following fake social media pages that impersonate its official online platforms.

“Pinag-iingat ang publiko sa mga nagkalat na fake pages at accounts ng lokal na pamahalaan at ng mga opisyal ng lungsod,” it said.

In a photo it posted, it showed a page of a certain “Malabon Ahon,” which it said was fake.

“Maging mapanuri at huwag magbigay ng mga personal na impormasyon o basta maniwala sa mga nababasa online. Ang pamahalaang lungsod ay hindi hihingi ng inyong code sa inyong blue card o hihingi ng iba pang mga personal na impormasyon,” it continued.

The city added that official announcements of the city will only come from its official Facebook page, the Malabon City Government.

“Ang mga mahahalagang anunsyo ng pamahalaang lungsod ay mangagaling lang sa ating opisyal na Facebook page na Malabon City Government at ng mga opisina ng lokal na pamahalaan,” it added.
