Woman killed by runaway truck in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippine—A 45-year-old woman was killed in Quezon City after being run-over by a truck that sped away after the accident early Tuesday, an investigator said.

Vicente Marasigan, a Quezon City traffic field investigator, identified the fatality as Flor Martinez who died on the spot after sustaining a head injury.

He said initial investigation showed that Martinez was walking along Quirino Highway in Barangay (village) Talipapa in Novaliches, Quezon City on her way to the market when the truck hit her around 3:45 a.m., as per witness accounts.

Marasigan, however, quoted the witnesses as saying that they weren’t able to take note of the vehicle’s plate number as it sped away.

Further investigation is underway for possible identification and capture of the driver, he said.
