Sea travel suspended in parts of Mindoro – Coast Guard
LUCENA CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) suspended sea travel on Sunday, Jan. 28, for small vessels in some parts of Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro provinces due to rough sea conditions.
The PCG, citing a 5 a.m. state weather bureau forecast, said strong gale with wind force and rough to very rough sea conditions associated with the northeast monsoon (amihan) is expected to affect the coastal towns of Bongabong, Mansalay, Roxas and Bulalacao in Oriental Mindoro.
The same order was also issued to mariners in the towns of San Jose and Magsaysay towns in Occidental Mindoro.
The suspension meant that all trips of small sea craft with 250 gross tonnages or less, like motorized passenger or fishing boats, in the said areas are suspended.
The suspension order would be lifted, and sea travel for small crafts “may be resumed any time when weather/sea conditions permit as may be declared” by Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, the PCG said.
