Marcos eyeing over 100 more special medical care facilities by 2028
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday said he plans to build 179 more specialty medical care facilities in the Philippines by 2028. During the launch of the Lung Transplant Program in Quezon City, Marcos said that the government has so far built 131 functional specialty centers through the Regional Specialty Centers Act.
“By 2028, we aim to establish an additional 179 specialty centers, seven of which are dedicated as lung care centers,” said Marcos in his speech.
Marcos signed the Regional Specialty Centers Act in August 2023.
The President said that the government is addressing the shortage of healthcare workers in the country through the Department of Health and the Commission on Higher Education.
“Let us remember that healthcare is our covenant with the people, a public commitment driven by neither political agenda nor personal legacy projects,” said Marcos.
