Wanted felon wounded in shootout with Cavite cops
LUCENA CITY — A wanted felon was wounded in an alleged shootout on Tuesday, Jan. 9, with police in General Trias City in Cavite province.
The Region 4A police said in a report that their operatives, armed with a search warrant, flagged down around 5 p.m. two motorcycle riders identified as “John,” driver, and his back-rider, “Raymart,” the subject of the warrant, while traveling along the Arnaldo Highway in Barangay Santiago.
But instead of yielding, “Raymart” reportedly drew a caliber .38 gun and shot the policemen but the firearm malfunctioned.
The law enforcers retaliated and hit the gunman. Police subsequently arrested John.
The wounded suspect, who is wanted for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, was brought to Gen. Trias Medicare Hospital for treatment.

Article continues after this advertisementDuring routine frisking, John yielded four plastic sachets of shabu (crystal meth). The volume and street value of the confiscated illegal drugs were not specified in the report.
The suspects were detained and are facing the corresponding criminal charges.
