Quiapo Church expects 2024 Nazarene procession to last from 13 to 14 hours

MANILA, Philippines — Quiapo Church officials on Tuesday observed the 2024 Traslacion proceeded at a much faster pace than previous Black Nazarene processions.

They also said they expect the procession to conclude approximately 13 to 14 hours after the departure of the Nazarene statue from Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park in Manila.

“Talagang masasabi natin na ‘di hamak na mas maiksi po ito,” Nazareno 2024 spokesperson Fr. Hans Magdurulang said in a press conference.

“Mas maiksi po ito kumpara sa mga nagdaang prosisyon o traslasyon, mga 13 to 14 hours tayo this time,” he added.

Quiapo Church will begin to suspend its Fiesta Masses to wait for the arrival of the Black Nazarene before resuming the masses again.

“‘Yung misa na nagaganap ngayon ay tatapusin at pagtapos ay aantayin na natin ang pagdating ng andas at tiyak na ipagpapatuloy ang mga susunod na misa,” said Magdurulang.

(The ongoing mass will be concluded, and after its completion, we will wait for the arrival of the procession carriage before proceeding with the succeeding masses.)

Traslacion officially commenced at 4:45 a.m. after the Nazarene departed from Quirino Grandstand and headed toward Quiapo Church.
