DBM releases P3 billion to repair public schools nationwide
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Monday said that P3.049 billion was released to fix basic education buildings nationwide.
According to the DBM, agency secretary Amenah Pangandaman has approved the Special Allotment Release Order (SARO) for the repair and rehabilitation of elementary and secondary school buildings.
“It has always been our goal to improve the quality of education that we can provide to every Filipino and empower them with the necessary tools to improve his or her quality of life. This coming 2024, we will continue investing in education,” Pangandaman said in a statement.
A total of P1.861 billion has already been released from an authorized appropriation of P4.911 billion from the 2023 budget, said the DBM.
The SARO will be released to the Department of Public Works and Highways, under the request of the Department of Education.
