Body of month-old baby girl found floating in bay
What truck drivers mistook Friday noon for a doll floating in Manila Bay turned out to be the body of a month-old baby in Manila.
Police Officer 3 Jupiter Tajonera of the Manila Police District homicide section said that a group of Manila International Container Terminal trailer truck drivers were hanging out near the South Access Road in North Harbor when they spotted at around noon on Friday what seemed to be a doll floating in the water.
He added that some of the drivers asked several street children gathered near the seawall to fetch the doll but upon closer inspection, it turned out to be body of a baby girl.
The discovery prompted the truck drivers to call the police for help. Tajonera told the Inquirer that based on its condition, the body had been in the water for less than 24 hours.
“What we are sure of is that the baby had already been born and what we have to find out is whether the baby was still alive or already dead when she was disposed of,” he pointed out, adding that this would have to be determined through an autopsy. Julliane de Jesus
