DTI: Imported fireworks unauthorized, buy local

Buying fireworks for holiday celebrations? Be cautious, says DTI

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Wednesday reminded consumers to purchase only locally made fireworks since the imported variants are not authorized.

“Bawal ang imported so sigurado ‘pag may nakita kayong imported na fireworks at firecrackers, hindi po iyan authorized ng DTI,” DTI Assistant Secretary Amanda Nograles said during the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon Public Briefing,

(Imported fireworks are prohibited so if you see imported fireworks, such are not authorized by the DTI.)

Nograles also told consumers that the fireworks retailers should have a valid Philippine National Police license or permit. 

Aside from the seller’s permit, the fireworks itself should have the Philippine Standard marking, said the DTI official.

“Ang advise po ng DTI para makasiguro tayo na legitimate ang binibili natin ay tingnan ninyo iyong listahan sa DTI website,” said Nograles. 

(The DTI’s advice to ensure that the fireworks bought are legitimate is to check if it is on the DTI website.)
