Red Cross awards blood donors in Negros Or.
THE Philippine Red Cross Negros Oriental Chapter awarded outstanding blood donors in the province in celebration of World Blood Donors Day.
Sixty-five donors were recognized last June 14 in Dumaguete City. Of the awardees, 22 are local government units and organizations, 32 are “blood galloners” and 11 are members of the “Pledge 25” group, which is composed of nursing students who pledged to regularly donate blood to Red Cross until they reach the age of 25.
Blood galloners are those who donated blood to Red Cross for eight times.
Among the LGUs awarded were Amlan, Bacong, Bais City, Bayawan City, Bindoy, Canlaon City, Dauin, Dumaguete City, La Libertad, Mabinay, Manjuyod, Pamplona, San Jose, Tanjay City and Valencia.
The organizations were the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Energy Development Corp., Negros Oriental State University, Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish and Philippine National Police.
Barangay Camanjac in Dumaguete City and barangay Inapoy in Mabinay town were also awarded for their blood donation efforts.
