Senator Cynthia Villar tests positive for COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Cynthia Villar confirmed she tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, November 30.

“I was positive last Thursday. I’m negative today as per antigen. I’m waiting for the [reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction] test result,” Villar told reporters on Tuesday.

Senator Bong asked Villar Go how she was doing during the Commission on Appointments (CA) deliberation on appointing Dr. Teodoro Herbosa as the country’s health chief.

Go mentioned that the Senate opted to open online sessions as some members were not feeling well.

“I am here, attending virtually. Okay na [ako] (I am okay),” Villar told Go.

On Monday, the Department of Health recorded 1,340 COVID-19 cases from November 28 to December 4.

The data is slightly higher than the number of infections recorded in the previous week, which was 1,218.
