First Scout Ranger Regiment hailed as ‘stalwart defenders’ at 73rd anniv
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday led the 73rd founding anniversary of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR) of the Philippine Army and recognized exemplary scout rangers during its conferment ceremony.
Established in 1950, the FSRR is among the elite forces of the Philippine Army. It was created to address communist insurgency and other security challenges in the country.
The FSRR’s founding anniversary was held at Camp Pablo Tecson in San Miguel, Bulacan.
In his speech, Marcos said that the event is not just a celebration of history, but also a recognition of the unit’s pivotal role in confronting internal security threats and safeguarding the nation.
“Over the years, the First Scout Ranger Regiment has stood as a stalwart defender, showcasing unparalleled loyalty and soldiering professionalism. From jungle to urban warfare expertise, our units have evolved to meet the everchanging challenges,” Marcos said.

Meanwhile, Marcos also mentioned the recent amnesty proclamation, which he said aligns directly with the scout ranger mission.
“By providing a path for former rebels to return to the fold of the law, the National Amnesty Program contributes to the overall stability and unity in our country,” he said.
The President likewise encouraged scout rangers to continue to exemplify “bravery, dedication, excellence, professionalism, [and] courage” in doing their mission.
He further envisioned a Philippines where the echoes of gunfires are replaced by laughter and hopeful voices of the children.
“Let this vision ignite the flame of hope within each heart, for together, we are sculpting an insurgency-free, secured, and harmonious Philippines, where the dreams of our people flourish unhindered,” he concluded.
Since 1950, the Palace said FSRR has played a significant role in different military operations, including the Battle of Marawi in 2017 and the Zamboanga Siege in 2013.
