NBI seeks P2.4-B budget for 2024
National Bureau of Investigation Director Medardo de Lemos said the Department of Budget and Management has approved a P2.4-billion budget for the agency, a substantial 63 percent increase from last year.
De Lemos said the budget seeks to cover the hiring and training of new agents plus the construction of a new headquarters after its old offices on Taft Avenue in Manila, which was under renovation, was gutted by a fire on Nov. 10.
The NBI temporarily relocated its offices to the V-Tech Tower along Quezon Avenue in Quezon City, while its detention center was moved to the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa. —RUSSEL P. LORETO
