Jeep falls down ravine; 21 hurt
A group of Catholic devotees on their way to the Antipolo Church were injured when the jeepney they were riding in fell into a shallow ravine in Taytay, Rizal, at 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Fortunately for the 20 jeepney passengers, eight of whom were children, none of the wounds they sustained was serious, according to Taytay police chief Superintendent Art Masungsong.
He said that the jeepney which the group had rented was going up a steep incline on Cabrera Road in Barangay Dolores when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The jeepney then began sliding backwards, dragging along a motorcycle that had been following it. Both vehicles ended up in a ravine around five to seven feet deep.
The driver of the motorcycle, Rosindo de la Cruz, also suffered injuries.
“No one was seriously injured in the accident. But the passengers still decided to press charges against the driver of the jeepney,” Masungsong said.
