Beermen pad ABL lead
THE SAN MIGUEL Beermen thrashed the Bangkok Cobras, 91-77, in the Asean Basketball League last Saturday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The win allowed the Beermen to tighten their grip on the top spot in the standings as tote a 16-4 (win-loss) record, two games clear of their rivals AirAsia Philippine Patriots.
Import Nick Fazekas and Fil-Italian guard Chris Banchero did the most damage on the Cobras.
Fazekas once again dominated the game with 25 points and 15 boards while Banchero added 22.
Hotshot local Leo Avenido had 13 while the team’s other import Duke Crews finished with 12.
Fazekas and Banchero led the Beermen on a second-half assault that turned an 18-22 deficit into a 44-38 lead as they outscored the Cobras, 26-16, in that stretch.
