No respite from scorching heat for Metro folk
There was still no respite from the scorching heat for Metro Manilans on Saturday.
The temperature dipped to 36.1 degrees Celsius at around 3 p.m., from a high of 36.4 degrees Celsius on Friday, at the Science Garden in Quezon City.
“It’s cooler than the previous day but it’s just as searing,” said forecaster Fernando Cada of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Bands of clouds could be seen over Luzon because the ridge of the high pressure area hovered over the Pacific Ocean and didn’t get close to land.
As expected, Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, and Cabanatuan City in Nueva Ecija—the country’s hottest spots—recorded higher temperatures of 37.3 degrees Celsius and 36.8 degrees Celsius, respectively, as of 2 p.m. Saturday. Iba, Zambales, and Dagupan City, Pangasinan, recorded an identical 36.2 degrees Celsius.
