Improve tourism, infrastructure in Pag-asa Island — Rep. Co
MANILA, Philippines — A lawmaker said that infrastructure and tourism must be developed in Pag-asa Island to further promote it.
According to Ako Bicol partylist representative and House Appropriations chair Elizaldy Co, moves should be made to further develop the island in the Kalayaan group of islands near the West Philippine Sea.
“Investing in its infrastructure and promoting it as a tourism hotspot is not just a vision but a commitment,” Co said in a statement on Saturday.
Co and other House officials, including Speaker Martin Romualdez, visited the island on Thursday.
Romualdez said that the House will allocate at least P3 billion pesos for “airport reclamation extension, which coincides with the naval port and fishing sanctuary.”
“Together, we aim to transform this vision into a reality, strengthening our nation’s footprint both in terms of sovereignty and economic prosperity,” Co added.
