PNP forms tracker teams to hunt down Teves, cohorts

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has formed tracker teams to hunt down expelled Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr. and three others after the Manila Regional Trial Court issued an e-warrant of arrest against them for the killing of  Governor Roel Degamo and nine others last March.

PNP spokesperson and Public Information Office chief Col. Jean Fajardo said they likewise coordinated with the director of the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas (PRO-7) and international police to locate Teves and his cohorts. 

“As of now po ang PNP ay closely coordinating with the international police and other agencies like the Department of Justice and the Department of Foreign Affairs,” Fajardo told reporters in Filipino on Wednesday. 

“We already created tracker teams and talked to the directors of PRO-7 and CIDG (Criminal Investigation and Detection Group); they are currently pursuing and exercising their best efforts to locate their whereabouts,” she added. 

Last month, the Anti-Terrorism Council (ACT) declared Teves and 12 others as terrorists in relation to the assassination of Degamo and other killings. 

Under Resolution No. 63, dated July 26 and signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, the ATC labeled the former congressman as the leader and mastermind of the “terrorist group” behind Degamo’s death and other politically-related killings in Negros Oriental.
