418K affected as NDRRMC checks report 2 died from typhoons Hanna, Goring

400,000 people affected as NDRRMC checks report that two died due to typhoons Hanna and Goring

MANILA, Philippines — At least 418,000 people have been affected by two typhoons that recently lashed Luzon areas, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday.

It also added that it is validating reports that two people died due to typhoons Hanna (international name: Haikui) and Goring(international name: Saola).

Based on the NDRRMC’s bulletin released at 8 a.m., one person was also reported injured while another one was missing.

According to the agency, a total of 418,192 individuals, or 114,724 families in 1,469 barangays were affected by Hanna and Goring as of September 3.

This figure included 52,072 displaced individuals – 21,712 of whom are staying in 272 evacuation hubs in Regions 1 (Ilocos), 3 (Central Luzon), 6 (Western Visayas), Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon), and Mimaropa (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) while 30,360 are taking shelter elsewhere or outside evacuation centers.

The NDRMC said various local government units and the Department of Social Welfare and Development have so far distributed P20,901,428 worth of assistance to the typhoon-stricken families.
