House panel OKs National Aviation Academy of the Philippines bill

Romualdez: House backs higher defense fund for 2024 amid latest WPS incident

 

MANILA, Philippines — A House of Representatives panel on Tuesday approved a bill on the establishment of the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines (NAAP).

The House Committee on Ways and Means approved House Bill No. 7323, converting the existing Philippine State College of Aeronautics to the NAAP through its charter.

“This is a vital step in realizing the advancement of aviation education in the country,” Kabayan party-list Rep. Ron Salo, who is the primary author of the bill, said in a statement.

“With the new charter, we aim to put the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines as the premier government institution for aeronautics and aviation-related education and develop the movers in the Philippine aviation industry both in the private and government sector, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” Salo added.

Among the features of the bill is the establishment of a campus specifically for the cadets of the Philippine Air Force.

“The establishment of a campus specific for our Air Force cadets is necessary so they will not be left behind in this development,” Salo noted.

“It will allow the institution to adapt and flourish and become a player in the global arena as it embarks on a path towards excellence and innovation in aviation education,” he added.
