Missing Bilibid inmate found in Rizal

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has named former police Col. Gil Torralba as deputy director general for operations, the third-highest position in the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) confirmed on Thursday that an inmate, who was mistakenly presumed dead, was found alive in Rizal province and recaptured. In a statement, BuCor said Michael Cataroja, who was earlier reported missing since July 15, was arrested by police in Angono town on Thursday. BuCor chief Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr. has ordered an investigation on how Cataroja was able to escape New Bilibid Prison’s maximum security compound. —DEXTER CABALZA
