Navotas police chief, 21 other cops reassigned
MANILA, Philippines — The chief of the Navotas police station and 21 other police members have been reassigned following the death of 17-year-old Jerhode Jhemboy Baltazar.
In a memorandum of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday, Police Colonel Allan Umipig and 21 others have been reassigned to the regional holding and accounting section (RPHAS) of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
On Wednesday, Umipig was relieved of his post following the Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) recommendation.
Umipig will also be facing complaints of dishonesty and command responsibility and administrative charges with 11 other police officers involved in Baltazar’s death, as they were allegedly not following operational procedures.
On August 2, Baltazar was killed by police officers who mistook him for a suspect they were pursuing.
