Missing swimmer found dead in Batangas

LUCENA CITY — A 50-year-old man who was reported missing after he went swimming on Saturday, July 29, was found drowned in Bauan town in Batangas province on Sunday morning, July 30.

Batangas police, in a report, said Edwin Ocampo, a resident of Mabini town, went swimming at La Thalia Beach Resort in Barangay (village) Loc Loc in Bauan at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Police said, citing the information from his companions, Ocampo was allegedly under the influence of liquor.

When he reached some 200 meters away from the shore, Ocampo suddenly disappeared from the view of his companions.

They tried to find him but the efforts proved futile. They decided to report the incident to the police.

The desk officer at the Bauan police station told the Inquirer in a phone interview that Ocampo’s dead body was recovered in another part of Bauan sea Sunday morning.

The police are conducting further investigation.
