House committee approves bill hiking road users’ tax
MANILA, Philippines — A bill that will increase the tax paid by car owners has been approved at the committee level in the House of Representatives.
The measure is going through deliberations among legislators in a bid to generate funds for road infrastructure projects, public utility vehicle modernization, and accident prevention programs.
During the hearing of House committee on Ways and Means on Tuesday, House bill number 376 and other similar proposals were approved after government representatives did not file any opposition to the proposal.
The legislative piece was authored by Albay 2nd district representative Joey Salceda.
He also heads the panel.

Passenger cars with a gross vehicle weight from 1,600 kg up to 2,300 kg:

Passenger cars with a gross vehicle weight of over 2,300 kg:
P10,400 in 2023
P12,800 in 2024
P15,200 in 2025

Utility cars with a gross vehicle weight of up to 4,500 kg:

P2.50 per kg in 2024
P3.40 per kg in 2025

Sports utility cars with a gross vehicle weight of up to 4,500 kg:

The same standards are used for trucks, buses, and trailers that have a gross vehicle weight of over 4,500 kg.
