MANILA, Philippines — Former First Lady Imelda Marcos might not attend the second State of the Nation Address (Sona) of her only son President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday.

Presidential sister, Senator Imee Marcos, said this in an ambush interview a few minutes before the Senate opened the second regular session of the 19th Congress.

Asked if the Marcos matriarch will remotely monitor her son’s second Sona, Senator Marcos said she isn’t certain yet since her mother may still make the final call in the “last two minutes.”

Imelda, who turned 94 in early July, underwent angioplasty last May 7.

Following the overwhelming victory of President Marcos in the 2022 polls, Senator Marcos said an ecstatic Imelda seemingly stopped showing signs of ill health and old age.
