NBI inmate Dera, 6 NBI personnel indicted
The Department of Justice (DOJ) is filing criminal charges in court against Jose Adrian Dera, a coaccused of former Sen. Leila de Lima in her remaining drug case, and six National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) personnel who allegedly facilitated his unauthorized trips outside the bureau’s detention facility.
In a statement, the DOJ said the charges against Dera, NBI Security Officer II Randy Godoy and NBI job order personnel Arnel Ganzon, Diana Rose Novelozo, Lee Eric Loreto, King Jeroh Martin and Pepe Piedad Jr. will be filed at the Manila City Regional Trial Court.
Godoy is accused of infidelity in the custody of prisoner. Dera and the others will be charged for the delivery of prisoners from jail.
“After evaluation of the evidence, the assigned prosecutor found sufficient evidence to hold the respondents for trial,” the DOJ said. Dera allegedly escaped from detention on June 21 and was caught reentering the NBI detention facility in Manila while escorted by six NBI security personnel.
