DOH: 1,382 COVID-19 Omicron subvariant cases from June 26 to 29
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 1,382 cases of various Omicron COVID-19 subvariants were detected and recorded in the country late last month, according to the latest Department of Health (DOH) biosurveillance report.
The report reflects the sequencing results of 1,468 samples from the Baguio General Hospital Medical Center (BGHMC) and the University of the Philippines – Philippine Genome Center (UP-PGC) Visayas from June 26 to 29.
Of the total number of cases, 1,251 were classified as part of the XBB Omicron subvariant, of which 139 belong to the XBB.1.5 sublineage, 217 XBB.1.16, 366 XBB.1.9.1, 60 XBB 1.9.2, 326 XBB.2.3 and 143 others tagged as “other XBB sublineages.
On the other hand, 46 other detections were classified as BA.2.3.20, 35 BA.5, one BA.4, and six XBC subvariant.
The report also showed three infections that belonged to the BA.2.75 subvariant, of which one was of the CH.1.1 sublineage, while the other two were “other sublineages.”
Forty other cases were classified as “other sublineages” of the Omicron subvariant.

Article continues after this advertisementThe XBB subvariant remains the most dominant strain, with a total of 5,576 cases recorded so far.
As of July 7, the country currently has a COVID-19 caseload of 4,166,862, including 4,093,607 recoveries, 66,484 deaths and 6,771 active infections.
