Cebuanos shine in Luzon leg of Milo Junior Tennis Cup

CEBUANO netters made their mark in the Luzon leg of the Milo Junior Tennis Cup held last week at the Luzon Clark Freeport Zone Tennis Club in Mabalacat, Pampanga.

Kristin Salimbangon clinched the 12-under girls title with no sweat after Gaby Zoleta defaulted their finals battle. Salimbangon advanced to the finals after dismissing Makaela Vicencio, 6-4, 6-3.

Salimbangon also posted a runner-up finish in the 14-under division, falling to champion Collen Sioson, 1-6, 1-6. She advanced to the finals with a 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 win over Anna Mallari.

The 14-under boys title was won by fellow Cebuano Joshua Kinaadman while Cesar Kristofer Salimbangon reached the semis in the 10-under unisex. He lost to eventual champion Jan Trillanes, 1-6, 0-6, in the semis.

He, however, made up for it by bagging the 8-under unisex title.

All three Cebuano netters are currently playing in the Angeles City National Age Group Tournament which is a Group 2 Philippine Tennis Association sanctioned event.

Joining them are Jan Godfrey Seno, Vinz Lominoque and Adrian Kinaadman. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
