PH COVID-19 positivity rate falls to 7.8% — Octa

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s COVID-19 positivity rate further fell to 7.8 as of June 27, according to Octa Research fellow Guido David.
In a series of Twitter posts, David’s updates revealed that the rate has decreased for five consecutive days — from 8.6 percent last June 23 to 8.2 percent on June 24, 8.1 on June 25, 8.0 percent on Monday, and 7.8 percent on Tuesday.
Citing from the Department of Health’s (DOH) recent data, David reported on Tuesday night 297 new coronavirus infections nationwide, with 63 cases from the National Capital Region.

Given these figures, David projected that the country might log 400 to 500 new COVID-19 cases on June 28.
Article continues after this advertisementAs of June 27, David said the Philippines had logged 4,163,472 cases with 7,760 active cases, 4,089,229 recoveries, and 66,483 deaths based on the DOH’s latest COVID-19 tracker.
Despite the drop in the positivity rate, David also reported on Tuesday an increase in Omicron subvariant XBB.1.16 or “Arcturus” cases, with 27 new infections in the country. Apart from Arcturus cases, 46 other fresh Omicron infections were also recorded specifically in Western Visayas on June 23, according to DOH.
