Beware of fake health officials asking for donations online – DOH
MANILA, Philippines — Don’t get tricked into giving donations solicited online by fake health officials, the Department of Health (DOH) said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The DOH issued the warning after receiving reports that certain individuals had messaged a member of the House of Representatives asking for a donation.
“In line with the foregoing, the DOH would like to notify everyone concerned that neither the undersigned [Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa[ nor the rest of his staff have engaged in any form of solicitation of donations for outreach activities and will not tolerate such alleged illegal actions,” the DOH said.
“As he is fully committed to upholding the integrity and in maintaining the respect accorded to such public office, as well as the trust of the Filipino people.”
Moreover, it reminded the public to be wary of communicating with accounts that pretend to be national agencies and officials and “remain vigilant and discern information received only from legitimate sources and platforms.”
