THE DEFENDING champions in each of the divisions in the University of San Carlos Boys High Alumni Basketball Association (USCBHABA) fell in their opening assignments as the league raised its curtains to a brand-new season last Sunday at the USC North gym.

Arthro, the defending champions in Division 1, was defeated by the Lou Regidor-powered B-Meg Llamados, 59-73, while the undermanned Yayoy’s Grill and Resto Bar was upset by Color Blind, 53-64.

Regidor, a former pro, proved to be too much to handle as he notched 37 points to lead the way for the Llamados.

In other results in Division 1, RJC Brokerage beat Batch 90, 68-42, while Batch 91 routed Batch 89, 71-51.  Café Laguna registered the most lopsided win of the day as they annihilated Riverside Grande, 101-52, behind Edmund Odullo’s 32 and Dinod Sausa’s 20 points.

In Division 2, Park ’N Go eked past Dosmiltres, 47-43, while Cebu Tech Jobs edged Type R, 70-66. Yayoy’s Grill, on the other hand, had just five players show up to play and was led by the 19 markers of Rocky Alcoseba. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
