Tourist drowns while saving nephew in Zambales
SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — A man drowned while saving his nephew in the waters off San Miguel village in this town, the police said on Monday (May 22).
The police identified the fatality as Mark Lester Soliven, 27, a resident of Western Bicutan, Taguig City.
Soliven went missing at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, after rescuing his nephew, who was not identified in the report.
“[The victim] saw his nephew, who was then about to drown, prompting him to hurriedly approach and pull his nephew toward the safe portion of the sea. Unfortunately, the victim suddenly drowned,” the police report said.
Two hours later, Soliven was found floating in the sea and was immediately brought to the Rural Health Unit in this town, but he was declared dead on arrival by an attending physician. INQ
