5 nabbed in QC on drug charges
MANILA, Philippines – Five persons have been arrested in three separate police operations against anti-illegal drugs in Quezon City.
The Quezon City Police District identified those arrested Friday as Mary Jane Obarra, 39, Danilo Fernando Sr., 52, Theresa Cruz, 43, Gilbert Cruz, 22, and Aldrin Rivera, 22.
Seized were five sachets containing methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” and another sachet of marijuana.
Senior Police Officer 2 Jerry Abad said Obarra was arrested at 1:30 p.m. in an entrapment operation in front of her home on Abra St., Bago Bantay, Barangay (village) Ramon Magsaysay. Police operatives seized two transparent plastic sachets containing shabu from the suspect.
At 3:40 p.m., Fernando was accosted also in front of his house on Kapalaran St., Barangay Commonwealth. Abad said policemen from the Batasan police station were conducting surveillance operations when they spotted the suspect allegedly engaged in an illegal drugs transaction.
The law enforcers approached Fernando and allegedly found two sachets of shabu on him.
Article continues after this advertisementThe two Cruzes (no relation to each other) and Rivera were arrested by the QCPD’s Special Operations Group in the middle of a pot session at Theresa’s house on Kaingin 2, Barangay Pansol.
Article continues after this advertisementCase investigator SPO2 Jeffrey Flores said an informant tipped them off to an ongoing pot session at the house on Friday night.
Police are checking reports that illegal drug peddling also took place inside the suspect’s home.
