Cebuanos debut in Filoil Flying V tilt
SEVEN YOUNG Cebuanos have made it to the next level after they were inked on the lineups of the teams set to battle in the 2012 Filoil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup, which unfolds today at the Arena in San Juan City.
The Arellano University Chiefs of head coach Koy Banal have the most Cebuanos in their fold with four led by National High School Championships MVP Julius Cadavis, formerly of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles. Joining him there are two other former Eagles in sniper Aaron Sing and big man Mavii Suarez. The other Cebuano is Cebu Eastern College stalwart Alfred Sedillo.
Also set to make his debut is another ace from SHS-AdC, Henry Asilum, who is committed to join the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons. Roy Villarias, a flashy guard formerly of the Cebu Eastern College, has signed on to play for the University of the East Red Warriors.
The most high profile of the bunch is former Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. juniors MVP Mark Jayven Tallo, who will be playing for the La Salle Green Archers for the first time today when they take on the reigning NCAA champions San Beda Red Lions at 4 pm.
The game at 2 p.m. will pit the defending UAAP champions Ateneo Blue Eagles against the Letran Knights. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
