Mactan school launches anti-bullying campaign
THE Sto. Niño Mactan Montessori School launched its first anti-bullying campaign in Cebu last March 24.
The campaign was led by school coordinator Sunshine Barcelo-Lim, with the support of the parents, faculty and the Department of Education (DepEd).
Dubbed “Pagmatngon,” the event highlighted an anti-bullying campaign symposium, parenting talk and musical presentation that aimed to prevent bullying and protect the students’ welfare.
A series of talks was conducted by Dr. Marcial Degamo from the DepEd Central Visayas, psychology professor and guidance counselor Martin Sentina and lawyer Joan Largo.
It discussed about awareness about bullying, identification and manifestations of a bully and being bullied, proper interventions to prevent bullying, acceptance by parents as well as their legal obligations of parents.
The audience—parents, representatives from other schools as well other stakeholders—aired their queries in a forum.
